Default Can't raise thigh above 90 degrees

Hi, I've had this for a few months now, no idea how I got it but as it's not going away I'm curious to know what it is!

If I try to lift my left thigh above 90 degrees (i.e. thigh parallel to the ground), I get a sharp pain on the inside of my thigh just above the knee. It feels muscular rather than joint, no problems with the right leg for the same range of movement.

    Any ideas?

Do you mean when you are standing and you try to flex the hip?

If so it is probably to do with your rectus femoris muscle. This muscle flexes the hip and extends the knee. My first step would be to stretch it out regularly. Look here for quad and hip flexor stretches:

Also get some sports massage which will find if there are any trigger points, tears, scar tissue etc in the muscle.

    Question

If I'm standing and raise my left thigh parallel to the ground I get pain. If I'm sitting down then the same happens when I try and raise my thigh up off the seat.

Definitely inner thigh between groin and knee, with the pain at the knee end.

    Thanks
