    Default Chronic left leg problem

I have recently started to play football again in the last 6 months after taking two years out, due to constantly picking up injuries.

Since I have returned I have suffered hamstring, groin and now thigh problems all in my left leg. I though that I had suffered from Gilmore's Groin a few months ago but that has subsided now, only to be replaced by a thigh strain i picked up last week and further aggrevated yesterday.

One of the most frustrating things is that these injuries never seem to be real tears or major strains. they seem to come on over time and then go after a few weeks of rest.

I have previously suffered quite serious groin and hamstring injuries in this leg but they were over 3 years ago.

Do you have any idea as to why i am picking up these pulls and strains all the time and specifically in the one leg?

Also how do you advise I overcome this most frustrating problem?

    Thanks

    Josh

    Hi

Given your previous injuries and that all recent injuries have been in the same leg, I would say you probably have some form of muscle imbalance.
If the original injuries were not rehabilitated thoroughly then this causes muscles weaknesses/tightness which can put the whole limb out of 'sync'.
Given the time frame that this has been happening, I would suggest that it could be quite complex and you should get a professional to do an assessment.
Treatment may then include massage and stretching, as well as strengthening any weakend muscles.
    Good luck
