Hi everybody, I have read similar threads and it seems like my situation is a little unique and I'd appreciate any insight or experiences on the subject. I recently suffered a sports injury after running a Half Marathon (about 1-1/2 weeks ago) which my doctor classified as "stress to the femur." On an X-ray it showed a small line on the femoral neck, but after an MRI my doctor concluded that it is not a stress fracture, simply stress to the bone. He just said to gradually let it heal and I can run again in 4-6 weeks. I guess my question is, should I be trying to put pressure on it? My doc didn't really have any insight on this matter. I basically get around on a wheeled chair and never really challenge the injury at all. I'm out of work right now so I haven't had to leave my apartment. I was trying to use crutches to walk but the movement in the hip area hurt (of course this was a week ago and I haven't tried again). It still hurts to sit down/stand up and twist my leg in a certain way, so I haven't tried putting more pressure than necessary (using bathroom, getting into bed). I ice it about 3x per day and try to elevate it regularly because I do get some foot swelling. Is massage and stretching recommended? I don't want to aggravate it, but also with my minimal movements throughout the day, just wondering if I slow down the healing process by not moving the muscles at all? Any insight is greatly appreciated!
