    Question Knee or Thigh?

Just over a year I was running in the gym to show a move to a gymnast, when someone ran in front of me, I stopped very quickly and felt a jarring sensation around the front of my quads and my hamstring on the left leg. I went to Physio to get it sorted but the pain is still there, especially down the side of my knee and to the back of my hamstring. This might sound silly but I can run, cycle, swim and do some very big walks, but it's the more subtle things like stepping up onto a step, or having to really think about lunging forwards which makes it feel like Jelly, can anyone help?

    Hi Debbie,

have a look a this page about VMO. It is part of one of your quad muscles, on the inside just above the knee cap. It is very important in stabilising teh knee and it often inhibited following injury:

Try strengthening this part of the muscle. There are some ideas how you can start doing this on the page. Also don't forget to stretch the quads, hamstrings and calves at least twice daily.

    Good luck!
