    Default long term hamstring AGAIN

After pulling my hamstring early July I'm having nothing but trouble. After a whole out I decided to play football again and was managing it well with ice but with the Xmas break coming up I decided to give it a real go to get it 100%.

I seen a physio who gave me some stretches etc and started jogging a few times a week with no football . The problem is I keep seeming to be going backwards , doing less and less .

My back has started to be extremely stiff to .

    Any help welcome

    Hi
Have you had any massage or done any strengthening exercises. Stretches are great and much needed after a hamstring strain, but strengthening exercises are just as important. Deep tissue massage also helps to realign the scar tissue and remodel it so it is as strong as possible and is a good quality scar which acts as much like the muscle as possible.
Also, as you mention your back being stiff, this could be connected as the hamstrings attach to the pelvis and so if tight, can pull this out of alignment.
My advice would actually be to see a Chiropractor to check for pelvic and lumbar alignment which will more than likely help your hamstring problem.

    Hello Heidi
I am currently getting sports massage once a week from my physio , he has also given me hamstring stretches along with abductor and back ones to . What is worrying me is the fact it seems to be worse now I've totally stopped football . I was given strength exercises but this flared it up so stepped it off

I have started to do lite yoga , will this be ok?

Yes I can't see a problem with Yoga and it will probably help to strengthen your core which stabilises your pelvis - where your hamstrings attach, so this may even be beneficial.
