    Red face need advice

Hi, I'm a 38 yr old stay at home mom. Though I' m not into sports, i'm not sedentary either, do a few stretches and walk consistently. I am not familiar with the names of muscles, and can only describe the area where I feel pain. Its in the front part of the thigh of the right leg, on the curve that joins the thigh to the body. It hurts constantly, and though I can still do crunches and most simple stretches, I find I cannot sit cross legged ( something i'm extremely used to doing, right from childhood). Any outward stretch of the leg is very painful. Walking for a long distance/long time makes that leg very tired the whole day. Though squatting is possible, getting up is very difficult. ( my kids are small, there is quite a bit of squatting and lifting going on :-))

My doctor tells me I've hurt my ligament and to 'take it easy'. I've reduced on my daily walks, but I'm on my feet most part of the day. I miss my exercise regimen, simple as it was.It kept me feeling energetic and helps me keep my weight in check. Can you advice me on some simple exercises to help heal the area? What do I need to get relief from the constant pain? The pain is bearable, but it's not getting lesser. I would really apreciate your suggestions.
    Thanks.

Is the pain on the front of the upper thigh, or the inside or outside?

Hi.....thanks for replying; it's on the inside. To put it in lay terms, when I sit straight on a chair, and run my finger on the line formed by the angle between the torso and the thighs, the pain is along the line as I move downward, toward the pelvic area. More to the inner than outer. Thats where the constant pain is, but the whole thigh feels sore and painful as the day moves on (thumping all over my thigh lightly with my fist helps a bit then ). If its a long day, the calf muscles start to tire and I end up limping slightly.
Hope that description could give you an idea. Would love to hear from you again
    Thanks a lot.

I think the area you are describing is your groin and the muscles called the adductors.

There are many possible injuries to this area. Including groin strains which are the most common. If moving your leg across your body (against resistance ideally) is painful then it is likely that this is what the pain is. Stretching the inner thigh will also help.

Other options include tendonitis, osteitis pubis and gilmores groin. Have a look here:
