Default Pain during lunges in upper thigh

    Greetings...
I started working out a few weeks ago with a couple of avid gym-goers and have been having issues with my left thigh since. I can run, walk, squat, leg press, etc. with no problems. When I try to do lunges, though, I get a pretty intense pain in my upper left quad, slightly to the inside of center. The pain this week isn't as bad as it was last week. My thought was that this is a strain of some sort, but I was wondering which of the quadricep muscles it might be.

    Hi
You may have strained it initially if it is something you are not used to.
You need to make sure you build everything up gradually and not try to keep up with regular gym goers.
It could be either Rectus Femoris or Vastus medialis, possibly even one of the groin muscles, depending how medial it is.
