    Default Quad/hip injury

I injured myself sprinting about a month and a half ago. I felt it start to tighten up and then a small pop in my mid quad area. The next day my quad felt sore, but the real injury seems to be at the upper front part of my leg. It may still be the quad but I'm not sure. It doesn't feel like a groin injury because it's more towards the front rather than the inside part of my upper leg. I have full motion and full strength as I test it running on a tread mill. The problem is when I go out to play softball and either have to turn and run, or run hard, I re-aggravate it. I've tried resting it for two weeks but it doesn't really change.

Is this something that just needs more rest, or is there some sort of treatment I should be doing to help. I've continued jogging on a treadmill with no discomfort. I've heard that taking an anti-inflammatory and massaging can help. Any suggestions?

    Hi

definately massage is worth a try. Make sure its a deep tissue sort like sports massage. It may just be that some scar tissue has built up in the area of the tear which needs breaking down to return the muscle to its full strength and flexibility.
Also stretch the quads and hip flexors several times a day:http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/stretching/allstretches.php
and start some knee extension exercises to strengthen the muscle.
