    Unhappy Thigh contusion?

I was playing football a month ago and got kneed on the outside of my thigh about 3 inches above my knee. When it happened I couldnt straighten my leg. I massaged it as soon as it happened and i regained some feeling and continued to play (with a limp though). My leg was quite sore after it and it began to swell abit and was very tender on the place of impact, I couldnt straighten my leg properly for at least a full day and continued to walk with a limp for about a week.

A month later and i can still feel a slight twinge from my quad muscle where i was hit as well and lower down the front of my thigh. It never did bruise and judging by the pain I was expecting some extensive bruising to appear but this did not happen, I had the pain but no bruise.

Just wondering has something similar happened to anyone? Should i be worried that it did not bruise, as this is always a sign of healing? Should I be worried that its still a bit sore a month after it happened.?

Yes I would agree it is a contusion. Sometimes bruising doesn't appear if it is an intramuscular contusion. See here: http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/frontthigh/deadleg.htm
Soreness can last several weeks. I would advise a good stretching program and some sports massage.
