Exclamation Training for a marathon and my hamstrings are hurting at the back and side of my knee

    Hi,

I am currently training for the London Marathon and after increasing my milage my hamstrings have tightened, which is causing pain at the back of my left knee and the side of my right knee.
I am streching three times a day which is helping, but I am very worried as the marathon is 4 weeks away and I am unable to run a present.

Any help or advice would be apprieciated.

Get a couple of sports massages and stretch regularly every day....by this I mean 5 times a day!
Massage will make a big difference to loosening the hamstrings. Your therapist should also look at the thightness of the Glutes to see if there is a problem there.
