Unhappy 12-yr-old Fastpitcher - hip hurts

My daughter just began complaining of a pain in her hip (about 3" up from the hip bone). It doesn't hurt when she runs or throws overhead. But when she pitches- upon release of the ball she gets a sharp pain in the abovementioned area. Comments, suggestions, possible problems?

She lives for pitching and has pitched for 3 years with no problems. She wasn't able to pitch last weekend just in case. She was very upset and would like to get back on the mound. Please help.

    Hi

I think that with such a young athlete you can never be too careful and you should get this checked out. There are a number of things it could be. Was there any sudden trauma or has this just come on gradually over a period of time?

When you say 3" up from the hip bone is this at the font, side or back?

I would definately advise a trip to a specialist to get her assessed. The last thing you or her want is to not get the proper treatment and end up making it worse so that she is unable to pitch at all.
