Default 30 Year Old Footballer Hip/Groin Pain

    Hi all

I am a (just turned) 30 year old footballer. I play centre back (thats probably irrelevant but who knows).

I missed all of last season with pain in my groins/hips and pubic bone area. I went through lots of tests etc until an mri showed up some damage to my public bone joint. I have since had a steriod injection (CT Guided - just about 2 inches above my penis) and while this has helped I am still not as flexible and pain free as I'd like.

It has help from the respect of, if I was say lying on the lounge floor on my side for a few minutes, when I went to move before, they was nasty pains in my public bone area. Also when turn sharply. This has almost ceased.

Now, I still get the pain in my hip and groin muscles. I am 6 ft4 and have always had short hamstrings and tight groins and generally been not very flexible.

If I stretch my groin using the technique of being side on, feet facing forward, legs well apart and lean to one side, I get a nasty pain in my hip (it is on the out side, lower hip). Does anyone know why this would be? I also get pains when I say rotate my hip/pelvic area in a hands on hips "roll".

If anyone has any ideas. I was consider bowen technique treatment but have read mixed reviews.

    Thanks
    Si

    Hi
Have you had any other treatment other than the injection? Any soft tissue work or rehabilitation?

Ok. This would be my next stop. Some deep tissue massage and a rehab programme to correct muscle imbalances.
