Default Blunt Trauma from Bike Handle Bar

My son was going down a hill and tried to adjust a locked gear selector and in the process twisted his front tire and wrecked.

The end of the handlebar went to his pelvic area (missing his MAIN MEMBER by about 3 inches!). There was a circular pattern were the handlebar hit. It is really more at the top of his leg, where his leg and groin meet. It barely broke the skin and the whole area turned purple the next day, even going down his leg almost to his knee.

Now there is a knot near the area of impact. The tissue is very tight, about the size of a golf ball. It has been a week and a half since the injury.

At first he kinda played it off (you know tough boys) but I am concerned that we should seek medical attention. Any advice?

I think it is advisable to get it checked out by a Doctor, given the area of the injury. Presuming everything is fine, some stretching a sports massage should clear it up. Make sure all bruising has come out before you get a massage though.
