I have danced for 23 years and work as a dancer/teacher. 2 years ago I had what felt like a groin strain bought on by excessive use ( I was teaching 6 days week at summer camp), 2 days later I was performing a dance lift and felt as though I had pulled something in my hip. This happened in the USA. I had an xray (all fine) but decided to wait for an MRI scan at home (as had to wait 2 weeks anyway and was going home soon). Whilst in the USA I experienced intense pain in my left hip and groin and was on diclofenic and hydrocodone. I was on crutches for 6 weeks.
On return to the UK I could now walk without crutches but in pain after dancing. In 2010 I finally (after an inconclusive MRI) had a steroids injection into the tendon connecting my hip-quad, where I was diagnosed as having tendinitis. After a few weeks the pain seemed to subside and I was discharged. The hips have always been weak and inflexible (despite me being hyper mobile elsewhere) so I started some hip strengthening exercises and regular yoga. This started to feel as though strength was returning.
Then 2 weeks ago out of no where I had this 'popping/hip dislocation' sensation in my left hip-it felt as though it was falling out of joint. A day later the same pain as 2 years ago had returned-intense groin pain, pins and needle sensation in my quad, sore hip, feeling as if the tendon was sore and inflamed, difficulty walking and almost impossible to lift leg on its own and abduct. However I can put weight on it-although it is uncomfortable. I feel as though the hip is loose. I went to A&E who x rayed it (fine) and told me to rest for 2 weeks and gave me crutches and the same pain medication as last time. 2 weeks on I am still in pain! I returned to work for 1 day and could barely walk on 1 crutch. Following a day's work my leg feels numb and there is increased sharp pins and needle type nervey shooting pains running down the front and back of my quad. I am having to wait 2 days to see my GP and dread how long seeing a specialist will be. Considering going private.
Is this more then tendinitis reoccurring? I feel in my heart of hearts there is nerve damage/tendon rupture, but feel as though the doctors wont listen! My job is to be active and this is really getting me down...HELP!
