Hello,
Some background; I am a USA Triathlon and cycling coach who has immigrated to Australia to work with Australian as well as American athletes. I (for right now) am in somewhat of a remote area. During some intense training about 10 days ago (the end of a hard 15 mile run) my lower abdomen got very sore and tight and I was forced to walk a bit. It was hard for me to lift my legs to run. I could "shuffle" along, and that was about it. My lower abs are not as sore now, but the familiar "lump" has protruded out some on my left side I backed off running, but have done a couple runs since at slower speeds. It was very tight there. ironically, cycling does not bother it as I raced my bicycle this past weekend.FWIW, I had a right inguinal hernia in the Navy over twenty years ago which Uncle Sam kindly repaired.
Ok, an update;I deleted some of this as I was writing and put the post on hold. I just had some ultrasound done and was told I have a "direct inguinal hernia" I have been researching and reading about possible consequences regarding surgery and was wondering if anybody has rehabbed themselves through diet and core exercises. I chanced upon a website www.herniabible.com that advocates non-surgical procedures to heal a hernia. Some good info on there and was just wondering if anybody helped theirselves get better.
I do not want to risk alot of downtime trying to work through it only to get to a major competition and have to get it repaired.
Thanks,
Jake
