    Hi
I'm afraid that is an impossible question to answer. Recovery times vary considerably from one person to another, especially in such a complicated condition. Its not like a straightforward ankle sprain where you can normally say 6-8 weeks for example.
Speak to your Doctor/physio or whoever is in charge of your care. If you are at all unsure of the diagnosis, then push for a second opinion.
    Good luck!

    Default TY Heidi

I am going to another Orthopedic tomorrow 1-19, I asked for one more specialized in the hip region since the other Ortho specialized in the back reinsured me I did not have a serious lumbar back problem that would causing sciatica like pain. I am hoping this one will finally take hip imaginery.... since the 2 PCPs and the 1 Ortho never has done them over the 8 months of visits.

A phyical therapist I seen mid Dec. '09 said I have a hip muscle imbalance for some reason, possibly a problem with the left side with the right side confensation for it. I have overuse injury on the right (were all the pain generates from) and my adbuction is weak on the left (were I do not have pain just alot of muscle twitching in the gluteaus muscle group). The imbalance is getting bad enough that now my adbominal muscle group on the right is painful and swollen.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question, it is greatly appreciated

Default Hip Bursitis - muscle strain

I think hip bursitis might be my diagnosis, but want your opinion. I am 20 and run regularly without problems. I went skiing and snow boarding for a week at the beginning of January. I didn't notice any specific injury; however, within a few days after skiing my hip started hurting and now I cannot run without pain. Brusitis? I cannot even sit too long without it aching. What type of specialist do I see? A physical therapist?

Definately start with a physical therapist.
Bursitis is possible, but not the only option.

Could be a muscular problem after a sudden prolonged period of an activity that you aren't used to doing.

Do you have any radiating pain going down the leg at all? Where in the hip is the pain?
