Smile Hip Pain with Calf related discomfort

Have been experiencing a slight pain in my hip area which when out running the leg/hip sometime seems to lose power! However no real sharp pain except this odd sudden pain in hip. Raced Sunday no problems, then rested yesterday, normally train every day and do weight session 2/3 times a week; today started to run hip felt uncomfortable then a buning pain down my leg to my calf, ran slowly for anther 3 miles did not get worse but clearly something wrong. Got back stretched no problem, prodded around calf, hamstring and quad slight discomfort deep in quad, and in groin, otherwise nothing, however definately achng pain in the outer hip area. Have no idea what the problem is can anyone help me.
    Regards

Is the shotting pain down the front or back of your leg? As it goes into the calf I'm guessing the back?
If so I think it could all be coming from your buttocks! Tight muscles in this area can compress on the sciatic nerve resulting in pain and weakness throughout the leg.
