Lower abdomen and groin pain
This will be a bit long winded, but here goes.
I am a 29 year old healthy male and have always been an extremely active, bodily conscious, nutritious person in great shape and play various sports. As a result of joining a rugby club I started lifting weights on a regular basis about a year ago.
The 17th of August in I dead lifted very heavy for 5 reps. I did strain while lifting, but was able to complete the set. Later on that day during the afternoon, I went to rugby practice. I was that evening that the lower left side of my abdomen felt pudgier than normal.
The next day I did my normal workout routine but constantly felt a distention in my abdomen. Pain also radiated to my groin. This proceeded for the next couple of days so I laid off the lifting, and focused exclusively on running for the next week. The discomfort subsided, but never really went away. After that week I proceeded to deep squat. After my squat session the discomfort came back like never before. I then went to the doctor and a hernia had been ruled out, but he thought it was impacted bowel. Since then I have been to and array of doctors and specialist, and no one can give me a clear answer. This injury has kept me from doing the thing I love. Anything seems to trigger it at times. From the way I sleep, the type of exercise I engage in, the amount of food I eat, or even how full my bladder is. Basically anything that causes a change in abdominal pressure triggers it. There is no real pain associated with it just a distended feeling, and if you look at my abs the left side appears to be “tighter” than the right. The discomfort is in this area http://www.yorku.ca/earmstro/journey/images/extobliques.jpeg ,but the discomfort sometimes radiates lower towards the pubic bone As a result I have not really done any direct core work as it leads to days of discomfort.
I have very good insurance so I have been blessed with the luxury to visit many doctors at a relatively low cost. Before this injury I had a left hip flexor strain, which was remedied with rest, ice, and anti-inflammatories. An MRI also found that I had tendonitis in my left adductor longus. This was remedied as well with 6 weeks of physical therapy; my groin is now pain free. One theory that came up over the course of doctor’s visits was that I might have a sports hernia. However, the MRI came up negative. I am now in the process of a unique branch of chiropractic medicine called Airrosti. That doctor told me that I have strained my psoas muscle and possibly my internal and external obliques as a result of hyper extending on a deadlift lockout. The therapy consists of very painful manual muscle manipulations, core strengthening exercises and kinesio tape. I do not know if the therapy because the kinesio tape shields the area, but I pray that it is.
Is anyone familiar with anything like this???All I want to do is return to normalcy, and do the things I used to love.

Psoas Spasm
It sound like a psoas spasm. Your therapist should be able to put it into a positional release and then give you stretches and some strengthening work. It can become a chronic injury very quickly so you need to get on top of it...

consider researching Ilio-hypogastric and ilio-inguinal nerve entrapment injuries. the nerve compression
injuries often confuse doctors as they mimic hernia injuries. contact me if you have any questions.

Psoas release
The Airrosti treatment that I have been receiving has focused on the psoas muscle. The injury runs the length of the area where the psoas muscle is located. I have been to all the sessions but continue to feel the same. Over the holidays I traveled back home, and visited with my family physician. He thinks it my have something to do with nerve entrapment. I have been prescribed a medication that is also used in patients suffering from epilepsy. It is to early to tell if the medication has had any effect yet.
