    Default Piriformis syndrome?

I hurt myself playing tennis recently; felt like I had piched a nerve in my right hip, inner and outer thigh. My chiropractor said I had jammed my femur into my hip, had an xray taken to insure that my cartilage between my femur and hip looked good (I am 63, not a kid anymore). He did an adjustment, has had me come back a few times, told me to rest it, do some simple stretching exercises. The exercises look like what is done for piriformis syndrome, where the piriformis muscle/ligament has been damaged.

I tried to play tennis again (after about a week), felt like I hurt myself again, decided I need to rest it longer. How long am I going to have to rest it? Chiro recommended pilates instructor to work on my core w/stretching. How will I know when I can start that? I have some important matches coming and a busy Jan/Feb series of tournaments. Any suggestions as to how to know when I am ready?

    Hi
I should think you can start pilates straight away. Most of the beginners exercises should be ok, just avoid any that cause pain.
Advising you on how long to rest it is impossible. I would suggest 3-4 weeks as a starting point but its all down to when it is painfree and then you need a very gentle intro and increase.
