Default superior labral tear (Hip) arthroscopy and recovery

    Hey,

I am a young atheletic female about to undergo surgery to repair a torn ligament in my hip. I've struggled with the injury since Nov 2008 and been in pain pretty much through out but its not really stopped me doing anything. I did do 3 months of physio only to return to training fullly and have full return of my symptoms. I know that surgery is the way too go but I am worried about the rehab and how i will deal with 3 months of work with very little activity in the first month or so.

Just appealing to others who are going through ot have been through a similar situation.

How have you coped? What is the rehab like? Have you got any tips?

    Default useful advice

    Hey,

Sorry to hear what's going on. You should check out the following link:

There is loads of stuff from people who have been through the op and you might be able to get a tip for a good surgeon depending on where you live.

I've had hip trouble for a couple of years and been completely out of action for over a year now (cant walk very far never mind all the sport I used to do) while I have been waiting to get a diagnosis on the good old NHS (UK). I have a labral tear and impingement but surgery might not be for me just yet. Best advice re coping with no activity is to find something else to do - I've been doing some courses in sports rehab stuff and doing all the non-active things I didnt have time for when I was kayaking, climbing etc. Oh .... and remain positive!

    Good luck

    Caroline
