Default Top of Hip/Pelvis side pain

    Hi All,

Since April I have developed a painful muscular injury in the area at the top of my pelvis/hip on my right hand side.

I have been to a sports injury clinic and the chap I saw says it is a deep muscle that runs from approx the top of the pelvis, up into my back. He gave me a sports massage in that area and I have been religiously been doing a couple of stretches he gave me many times a day. The pain always gets much worse after speedwork or a race. I did speedwork with my club last night and it is very stiff and sore today when I walk around, particularly when I go upstairs.

I was just wondering if anybody else has had a similar injury and may be able to give me some advice on beating it?

    Thanks.

    Hi
I think the muscle he eas talking about was quadratus lumborum. This muscle is often a problem. However so is gluteus medius, especially when there is a weakness in any of the muscles around the hip or there is a leg length difference.
I think it is worth getting this checked as only a cm difference can cause problems but is easily corrected!
