    Default Piriformis syndrome?

Does anyone have any advice for a painful piriformis? I run a minimum of 15 miles per week, up to 35 miles per week when training for races. I have been suffering with pain in my left buttock for several months - after runs, never during. Recently however, this has changed and I now get pain after approx 25 minutes of any run. I'm not a great stretcher, but have started to stretch to try to resolve this problem. I notice that not only is my butt sore but I am very tight all around the top of my left leg and hip. Any ideas gratefully received.

    Hi Lynne,

I think you would definitely benefit from seeking out a sports therapist or physiotherapist who could do a full assessment and consider where you are tight - and possibly why!

This way they can develop you a specific stretching plan to help you with your problems and potentially address what is causing the problems.

I hope this is of some help, please let us know how you get on!
