Default Radiating pain from buttocks to back, thigh and ribs

OK , this is very strange, for what i have found out today might be cause to my pain, I am 25 year old, average build, and i started having this pain first in my buttocks almost 6 years back, let me tell you i have been involved in harsh labor condition since i was 13, i was working in a warehouse where i use to lift sacks weighing 50 60 kgs at given time, and i never ate anything healthy as such.

Well i remember i decided one day i would start working out, i stretched and then started squatting , i suddenly felt a pinch on my right buttocks , it was so severe that i could not continue exercising anymore, and i took a pain killer hoping the pain would go away and laid down on bed , and that same evening when i woke up , the pain was even worst, for four days i could not move from bed, or change sides , i was frozen dead on my back. Then i went to orthopedic doctor , he took some blood test and a x-ray, and suggested me to take some muscle relaxer and painkiller for the severe pain, and refer me to see a physio therapist, who taught me some stretching exercises , and it went on for few weeks , with much no help i went back to the doctor again , and this time he started giving me injection on butt , after the injection a few hours later i use to feel fine, but the next the same, and again another round of medication and physio therapy. it never helped, by now my back was also affected , and the pain was radiating. nothing never really helped, and the doctors back then could not diagnose me with anything , a year later after many other healing therapy i got a mri done of my lumber spine , and again nothing was there, accept a birth defect, he didnt tell me what it was thou , and ask me to the same thing like many other doctors ask me to do , and i was so frustrated and low and again busy with lots of work . i started living with it , the pain would come for few months and go away sometimes for a a week , and when it was unbearable i use to take painkillers, lots of massage and heat therapy at time would help , but never really got rid of it . even went for few session of acupuncture. again not much of help.

And today my girlfriend who has been worried about me , some how made me want to go see a doctor again after a couple of year. this time i told the entire story to the doctor, this doctor was more friendly. so i showed him recently done blood test , and old mri and he got a new x-ray of me done today , and he said that i have spina bifida occulta , something that i got from birth , but i am still not convinced that the root cause of my pain could be it .

And later my pain started moving from right buttock to the left and something to thigh front and back both, i still suffer from stiff back pain when i wake up in the morning , and if i am sleeping on the right side , i do also have my right rib hurting , as if somebody is crushing my ribs.

well i am hoping somebody could tell me whats up with me ?

i would be really humble and thankful.

    best health wishes and regards

    Hi Max

I am sorry to hear of your problems.

I' afraid however that this is probably well beyond the scope of this forum. You appear to have tried everything I would often suggest, such as massage, exercises and acupuncture.

I do agree though that as there was a clear point in time when the pain started, that it is probably not related to the spina bifida. In many cases, this form of spina bifida is very mild and causes no symptoms. In a small minority it can though. Has your Doctor said anything about how severe it is? i.e. the number of damaged vertebrae etc?
