Default Apophysitis at the ilium

I am working with a high school distance runner who has been experiencing hip pain for several months. Her physician has diagnosed an apophysis at the insertion point of the rectus femoris. The bad news is that it doesn't seem to be responding.

He has her doing deep water running and dryland running of 5 minutes at a time with several minutes rest. My concern is that this doesn't seem to be helping, nor does it assess or address causation.

Any thoughts?

Hi

Has the athlete had any other treatment? Therapeutic ultrasound/massage/a thorough stretching program for example?

I would have said these are going to be important factors in the recovery of the athlete. She won't recover fully by just limiting her training for a while! When you start to increase the training the underlying causes will still be there, whether it be biomechanical, muscle imbalances etc
