Medicine Ball Reverse Crunch

The reverse crunch involves raising the hips and pelvis off the floor, rather than the head and shoulders. This works the lower abs. Adding a medicine ball increases the resistance.

Teaching points

  • Lay on your back on the floor with the knees bent.
  • Hold a small medicine ball inbetween your knees and place your arms on the floor out to the sides.
  • Keep your knees bent as you raise your buttocks off the floor.
  • Return to the starting position.

  • Rectus Abdominus.
  • Transversus Abdominus.
