Resistance Band Overhead Tricep Extension

The Overhead Tricep Extension exercise works the Triceps Brachii muscle and is a more advanced version of the tricep extension exercise.

Teaching Points

  • Place one end of the band under your foot and hold the other end in your hand.  
  • Bend your elbow so it is pointing to the ceiling and your hand is behind you.  
  • Straighten your elbow and point your hand to the ceiling.  
  • Slowly return to the starting position.

  • Triceps Brachii.
  • Anconeus.

Alternative exercises

  • Tricep extension with a resistance band.
  • Tricep dip using body weight.  
  • Tricep kickback with a dumbbell.
