Resistance Band Tricep Extension Exercise

The tricep extension exercise works the Triceps Brachii muscle at the back of the upper arm.

Teaching Points

  • Attach the centre of the band to a high, stationary object.  
  • Hold an end in each hand with the elbows bent and forearms parallel to the floor.  
  • Straighten the elbows, keeping the upper arms still.  
  • Slowly return to the starting position.

  • Triceps Brachii.  
  • Anconeus.

Alternative exercises

  • Overhead tricep extension with a resistance band.  
  • Tricep kickback with a dumbbell.  
  • Tricep press resistance machine.
