Premiership Physiotherapist Neal Reynolds talks to sportsinjuryclinic.net about Achilles tendon tears.
The most extreme form of Achilles injury is a rupture. These can be very troublesome. You know you've done it - it often feels like someone has kicked you in the back of the leg. If you feel around the Achilles tendon you can feel a gap there. It is important to go to hospital and get it looked at.
If you do suffer this injury, you have to accept that it will never be exactly the same again. It will look and feel differently.
Surgery is very successful but you are out for a long period of time - potentially 7-9 months.
