ACL Injury Explained in a Minute
Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury Explained in a minute!
The ACL is ruptured in activities which require fast changes in direction. Symptoms include a popping noise or feeling, instant pain and rapid, extensive swelling.
Rest, ice and compression should be used and medical advice sought asap. Treatment may consist of a surgical reconstruction of the ligament or a rehabilitation programme to strengthen the knee. The decision on whether to operate will depend on the stability of the knee and the activity levels of the individual.
