Resisted Supination / Pronation

Supination and pronation are the movements of turning the palm of the hand over. Supination ends with the palm facing up and pronation ends with the palm facing down.

Teaching Points:

  • The elbow is bent to a right angle and the therapist grasps both hands around the wrist.
  • The athlete tries to turn the palm upwards against resistance and then downwards against resistance.
  • Ensure that the elbow is stabilised by the athlete’s side to avoid additional movements.
