Double Leg Stand Eyes Closed

Stand with your weight equally balanced on both legs. Be aware of where you centre of gravity is. Close your eyes and hold the position without moving or swaying around. Then open them and repeat. If you find this too easy then progress to single leg stand, first with eyes open, then try with them closed.

Proprioception is the body’s ability to sense its position, movement, and orientation in space. This “sixth sense” relies on receptors in muscles, tendons, and joints that send information to the brain about limb location and movement. It enables coordinated actions without directly looking at the limbs, such as touching your nose with closed eyes. Proprioception is crucial for balance, coordination, and injury prevention. It can be enhanced through specific exercises and is often a focus in rehabilitation programs to recover from injuries and improve athletic performance.
