Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is a common injury resulting in pain on the outside of the elbow. The symptoms include this, as well as weakness in the wrist and tenderness on touching the lateral epicondyle (pain on the bone on the outside of the elbow).
Treatment includes rest and cold therapy to reduce pain and inflammation. A brace or support may be worn to help ease the pain at the elbow. Anti-inflammatory medication may be prescribed and a professional may use electrotherapy such as ultrasound. A full rehabilitation and strengthening programme should be follwed to prevent a reoccurance.
